With over 30 years of intellectual property law experience and a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, Brian Marcus specializes in patent prosecution, licensing and legal counseling across a wide range of advanced mechanical, electromechanical and software technologies. Mr. Marcus has played a key role in building and safeguarding the intellectual property portfolios of leading technology companies worldwide.
Brian I. Marcus specializes in intellectual property and related business strategies, including the acquisition and enforcement of intellectual property rights in patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. With a degree and experience in mechanical engineering, Mr. Marcus focuses on patent prosecution in a wide variety of mechanical and electromechanical technologies, including robotics, semiconductor packaging, semiconductor fabrication equipment and medical devices. Mr. Marcus also has extensive patent prosecution experience in various software arts, including virtual and augmented reality systems, the IoT, voice recognition systems and emerging artificial intelligence and machine learning platforms. Mr. Marcus has used his technical and legal background to help build and protect the intellectual property portfolios of a variety of high-tech clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Marcus also has extensive experience in protecting and monetizing IP rights through licensing and pre-litigation counseling.
Brain’s professional experience includes working as a mechanical engineer for Israeli Aircraft Industries, where he tested PT-6 commercial jet engines, and contributing to the design of communication systems for Boston’s subway system during his tenure at Comstock/Manzi/Myles.
