International law firm Pearl Cohen Zedek Latzer Baratz LLP (Pearl Cohen) is pleased to announce the arrival of Steven Goldberg, a new partner in the firm’s growing Los Angeles office. Goldberg, an accomplished litigator who has represented multimillion-dollar companies, start-ups, and celebrity athletes and entertainers, joins from Manatt, Phelps and Phillips LLP in Los Angeles. Earlier in his career, he was at Cravath, Swaine and Moore in New York.

Goldberg, well-known in state and federal courtrooms throughout his 30-plus year career, has compiled extensive experience working for securities, health care, insurance, and other kinds of companies, in all manner of corporate litigation. He frequently represents brokerage firms, banks, stockbrokers, and their customers, and has done work in copyright and trademark infringement (IP) litigation. Earlier this year, he obtained a judgment of $31 million on behalf of a client in a breach of fiduciary duty and corporate dissolution case. The judgment was among the largest of the year in both Los Angeles and the entire State of California.

Goldberg has represented individuals and companies in securities fraud litigation, including class actions and Securities and Exchange Commission investigations.

“I’ve been thoroughly engaged by my trials, and all my service, at prestigious U.S.-based firms; moving to Pearl Cohen now affords me a great opportunity to also connect, help, and work with businesses and lawyers in the country I consider my ‘second home’—Israel,” Goldberg said. A dual citizen, Goldberg has long been active in American-Israeli affairs, and played leadership roles in the Zionist Organization of America and on the Board of Governors of Ariel University in Israel. He speaks and writes frequently on behalf of Israeli-American partnership.
“My partners at Pearl Cohen are lawyers as talented as I’ve ever worked with, and the international dimension of their work makes it all the more exciting,” Goldberg added. Earlier in his career, he noted, he worked with some of the country’s best known athletes and entertainers, among them Jerry West of the Los Angeles Lakers; Nomar Garciaparra of the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers; Tracy Austin, Hall of Fame tennis star, Mia Hamm, the Olympic soccer star, and singer Pat Boone.

“We are absolutely thrilled to get an attorney of Steve’s caliber on our team,” said Zeev Pearl, Managing Partner of the firm. “As we grow throughout the United States, we fully expected that we would find top-tier lawyers to help our clients achieve their international objectives, and to grow the firm with ever higher levels of legal talent. In Steve, we’ve accomplished both goals; we know there will be many more on their way to Los Angeles, New York, and Boston,”

Goldberg graduated from Harvard University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics, and received his J.D. from New York University in 1978. A native of New York City, he now lives in Orange County, Calif. He has been named a SuperLawyer every year since 2012.

Pearl Cohen, with three offices in the United States, two in Israel, and one in the United Kingdom, serves clients worldwide with corporate, tax, litigation, and intellectual property issues of national and international interest.
